DESCRIPTION: Sometimes quality just begets quality. Go figure. Meet the young CCNF Herdsire that came to be lovingly known throughout the 2009 show season alternately both as "The Sheep" and "Stoner Boy." Solano would spend long periods of time in the show ring that year seemingly unaware of where he we was only to then suddenly come to and spook as though someone or something had just clued him in that he was in fact on display and in an arena with PA announcers, humans (not least of which was the goof on the other end of the lead line), and 1,000+ other alpacas. Classic stuff: in 10+ years of showing alpacas we had yet to see anything quite like it!
All of that, while highly entertaining, is really just a humorous aside when the fact of the matter is that we have rarely been so excited about a young Herdsire and the potential impact we project him to have within our breeding program. Outside breedings can so often be hit or miss yet when we sent our beloved former show female, CCNF Sonoma Star (PPPeruvian Sonora x Snowmass Incaaccoyo Star) to Heather's Acre Alpaca Farm to breed with their multi-Champion, PHA Accoyo Francisco (PPPeruvian Astillero x PCA Accoyo El Nino) we had our hopes set very high and the end result did not disappoint in the least! Solano brings a combination of density, fineness, brightness, extreme density, and "holy cow" staple length that we have rarely seen combined elsewhere. He's got the fleece, he's got the conformation, and he's got the phenotype. Solano is now a proven Herdsire and the best is yet to come...
